FEMA Encourages Preparedness as Atlantic Hurricane Season Begins

The Federal Emergency Management Agency Friday encouraged the private sector and others to prepare for the Atlantic hurricane season, which officially runs from June through November, noting that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center sees the potential for more storms than usual. Earlier last week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and FEMA Administrator Brock Long met with public and private sector stakeholders at the National Hurricane Center in Miami to discuss the forecast and encourage individuals and communities to prepare.
