CMS extends open enrollment deadline to Dec. 18
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today announced that it is extending the deadline to enroll in health insurance on the exchange to accommodate consumers who attempted to enroll in health coverage during the final hours of open enrollment but who may have experienced issues or delays. The extension begins today at 3 p.m. ET and goes until Dec. 18 at 3 a.m. ET. All health coverage will be effective Jan. 1. “CMS’s primary goal is to provide a seamless Open Enrollment experience for HealthCare.gov consumers and ensure that those Americans who want coverage offered through the Exchange can enroll in a plan,” said a CMS spokesperson.
