Coalition launches effort to improve medical diagnoses
More than 40 groups, led by the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine, yesterday launched a campaign to improve the quality of medical diagnoses. ACT for Better Diagnosis asks coalition members to identify and spread practical steps to help ensure diagnoses are accurate, communicated and timely. “Major improvement is needed to systemically identify how to improve diagnostic quality and reduce harm to patients,” said SIDM CEO Paul Epner. Coalition members include MedStar Health, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Penn State Health, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Geisinger, and Intermountain Healthcare.
