During the 1970s, the AHA's Board of Trustees' Committee on Health Care for the Disadvantaged developed the Statement of a Patient's Bill of Rights. Approved by the House of Delegates on February 6, 1973, the Patient's Bill of Rights was later updated and paired with a consumer-facing Your Rights as a Patient. It continues today as The Patient Care Partnership: Understanding Expectations, Rights and Responsibilities, available on www.aha.org.
