Altarum: Health sector jobs surge in fourth quarter
The health care sector added 34,100 new jobs in December and saw upward revisions of 17,800 jobs in October and November, resulting in the highest three-month gain since 2002, according to the latest economic indicators from Altarum Institute's Center for Sustainable Health Spending. “On average, 26,000 new jobs were added per month in 2014, an increase of 50% over the 17,000 per month added in 2013,” the center said. “…Hospitals added no new jobs in 2013 but added an average of 4,000 jobs per month in 2014, ending strong at 7,000 jobs per month in Q4.”
