AHA comments on CMS’ proposed IRF payments for FY 2021

AHA today submitted comments on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ proposed rule on the inpatient rehabilitation facility prospective payment system for fiscal year 2021. The comments express AHA’s concern with the proposed option to use non-physician practitioners in place of rehabilitation physicians to fulfill the clinical and leadership role in IRFs.

“We urge CMS to withdraw this proposal to ensure that the scope of services provided in IRFs remains at the highest levels and consistently delivered across the field,” AHA wrote.
