Hospitals add 17,800 jobs in October

Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.36% in October to a seasonally adjusted 4,963,200 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 17,800 more people than in September and 166,800 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 4,971,100 people in October – 25,300 more than in September and 165,700 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage point in October to 5%.
