Bill would create commission to examine, improve public health readiness
AHA yesterday voiced support for the National Coronavirus Commission Act (S. 412), legislation that would create a national commission to examine lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and how to improve public health readiness.
AHA said the commission should consider how to improve or restructure the Hospital Preparedness Program so hospitals and other vital providers have the funding and resources needed to respond rapidly to a public emergency, and the best way to ensure a continuous funding stream to support and refresh the strategic national stockpile as needed.
