Reps. Terri Sewell, D-Ala., and Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., today introduced The Resetting the Impact Act (TRIA) of 2021, AHA-supported legislation that takes into account unforeseen changes since the 2014 implementation of the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act to reflect 2021 considerations.

This reset will allow policymakers to first complete the in-process collection of patient assessment data required to develop a unified payment model for post-acute care, as well as focus this effort on data that reflect current standard operations of the field.

“We strongly support TRIA’s goal of modernizing the original IMPACT Act to better align post-acute care patients’ medical needs, resources, and payment, which will help protect access to care,” said AHA Executive Vice President Tom Nickels “We appreciate Reps. Sewell and Buchanan for their leadership on this important issue that has been magnified by the pressures of the pandemic.”
