22 Senators urge Senate leadership to extend Medicare sequester moratorium
A bipartisan group of senators yesterday urged Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to extend through the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency the moratorium preventing a 2% cut to Medicare payments under sequestration. They also urged Congress to continue its 3.75% increase to 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule payments through the public health emergency.
“Despite continuous progress to vaccinate Americans, COVID-19 continues to strain the resources of our providers,” wrote Sens. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., Susan Collins, R-Maine, and 20 other senators, citing rising cases and hospitalizations and the potential impact of the omicron variant.
