CMS approves Washington state request to extend Medicaid postpartum coverage

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services June 30 approved a state plan amendment allowing Washington state to extend postpartum coverage from 60 days to 12 months after pregnancy for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program enrollees under the American Rescue Plan Act. Washington joins 15 other states that have extended postpartum coverage since last year under the ARP or through a Section 1115 Medicaid demonstration project.
