Federal government to ship 144,000 additional doses of monkeypox vaccine

The Department of Health and Human Services today announced plans to make available an additional 144,000 doses of the JYNNEOS vaccine used to combat monkeypox. The doses will begin shipping from the Strategic National Stockpile on July 11; they will be available to states and jurisdictions. HHS says it is coordinating with states and jurisdictions to support their monkeypox response. According to HHS’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, distributions of the JYNNEOS vaccine have already been made to 42 states and jurisdictions. Hospitals wanting a supply of vaccine should reach out to their state and local health departments to learn of the plans for distribution to care providers.
