AHA report: Key takeaways from the field on building a culture of safety  

A new AHA report highlights key takeaways from nearly 350 health care professionals nationwide who participated in a series of AHA-hosted listening sessions on the state of infection prevention and control to identify challenges, share what’s working, improve outcomes and create better patient experiences.  
 
“We thank everyone who participated for their honesty and compassion,” write Marie Cleary-Fishman, vice president of clinical quality at the AHA Center for Health Innovation, and Nancy Foster, AHA’s vice president of quality and patient safety policy, in a letter introducing the report. “Patient safety and quality of care are at the core of what we all want to achieve in health care. They are powerful drivers for creating a just society of healthy communities, where all individuals reach their highest potential for health.”
