CMS outlines Medicaid/CHIP coverage for adult vaccines effective Oct. 1

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released guidance on an Inflation Reduction Act provision requiring state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Programs to cover approved adult vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and their administration without cost sharing beginning Oct. 1, 2023. The guidance also outlines the requirements states must meet to claim a 1 percentage point increase in the federal medical assistance percentage for these services.
