Agreement reached to prevent government shutdown; House, Senate passage of short-term continuing resolution expected

Bipartisan, bicameral leaders of the House and Senate and their Appropriations Committees Feb. 28 announced an agreement to extend funding through March 8 for four appropriations bills set to expire March 1 and through March 22 for eight appropriations bills set to expire March 8. Passage of this measure will prevent a government shutdown. Negotiators also announced an agreement on six of the appropriations bills, which Congress intends to enact by the March 8 deadline.
