White House issues federal agency policy on AI use, oversight
The Administration March 28 issued a government-wide policy to manage artificial intelligence use and risks within federal agencies. The order requires federal agencies to implement safeguards, expand transparency, advance innovation and strengthen governance of AI use within the federal government. In addition, the Administration announced several other AI measures on responsible AI use in the government including procurement, use case inventory reporting and workforce growth.
The policy is in response to President Biden’s Oct. 30 Executive Order on the use of AI.
