Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee Friday released a report summarizing initial efforts by its Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee to address the nation’s cybersecurity challenges. The report identifies six strategic priorities: widespread adoption of coordinated disclosure programs; implementation of software bills of materials across connected technologies; support and stability of the open-source software ecosystem; health of the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures program; implementation of supported lifetimes strategies for technologies; and strengthening the public-private partnership model. “The Subcommittee remains committed to strengthening the cybersecurity of the stakeholders under its jurisdiction, and will continue to pursue cybersecurity strategies and policies to enable the continued improvement of cybersecurity across society as a whole,” the report states. Earlier this year, AHA responded to a committee request for information on how best to keep medical devices secure over their useful lifetimes.
