Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, New York, is transforming spine surgery by introducing robotic technology, led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nicholas Qandah. This approach allows procedures that once required large incisions and long hospital stays to be performed with minimally invasive techniques, using small incisions and often allowing patients to return home the same day.

“There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a patient who’s in pain or having neurological problems to go home and recover nicely and be able to get back with their grandkids and families and have fun summers,” said Qandah.

Since launching the program in 2025, the hospital has expanded its capabilities to handle a wide range of spine procedures with improved precision and outcomes. The innovation is attracting patients from across the region, as more people seek advanced, less invasive treatments and play an active role in their healthcare decisions.
