The AHA’s American Society for Health Care Engineering presented its 2018 Crystal Eagle award to George Thomas, former director of plant and engineering at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, during its 55th Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition July 15-18 in Seattle. The award recognizes lifetime achievement and contributions to ASHE and the field of health care facility management. Thomas had more than 50 years of experience before retiring in 2008 and served in leadership positions within ASHE and his local chapter in New Jersey. Among other honorees, ASHE presented its President’s Award for excellence in optimizing the health care physical environment to Susan McLaughlin, chief operating officer of MSL Healthcare Partners Inc. ASHE is an AHA professional membership group.
