CMS releases letter of intent form for two value-based primary care models

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has released an online form for submitting letters of intent to participate in the professional or global direct contracting options under its new Primary Cares Initiative. Both options offer capitated payment and performance-based shared savings and losses. Participants in the professional option will retain half of any savings and pay back half of any losses to Medicare under the model, while participants in the global option will retain all savings and pay back any losses. Providers interested in participating in either option must submit a non-binding letter of intent to apply by Aug. 2.
