The Association for the Healthcare Environment, an AHA professional membership group, recently presented its 2019 awards for excellence in caring for the health care environment. Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton, Ga.; Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa.; and Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, Ind., each received an Environmental Services Department of the Year Award. Gary Dolan, director of environmental services at The Village at Penn State in State College, Pa., received AHE’s highest individual honor, the Phoenix Award for exceptional leadership, quality and excellence in the profession. Stephan Vick, an environmental services technician at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, received the Heart of Health Care Award for his outstanding efforts to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
