A new AHA TrendWatch report provides an overview of the current national health care workforce and examples of hospitals and health systems’ responses to trend shifts. “There are a number of challenges facing hospitals as they build and nurture a talented and dedicated workforce, and hospitals and health systems are rising to meet these challenges,” the report says. “Although there are challenges, there also are opportunities to improve care, motivate and re-skill staff, and modernize processes and business models that reflect the shift toward providing the right care, at the right time, in the right setting.” AHA has developed a number of resources to support hospitals and health systems in their workforce planning. In addition, AHA recently launched The Changing Workforce Task Force to provide strategic thought leadership on future changes in the health care workforce.
