The AHA has received a $1 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to continue for one year its efforts to encourage COVID-19 vaccine confidence in the hospital field, clinicians and the public. The funding builds on a $2 million CDC grant AHA received in February to expand its vaccine education resources, which range from a social media campaign featuring why health care workers chose to get vaccinated to public service announcements featuring trusted clinical ambassadors, a consumer-facing webpage, podcasts and virtual events.

“The people who work in hospitals and health systems are trusted in the community, which is why we have been steadfast in getting them the resources they need to communicate effectively about the vaccine with their patients,” said Michelle Hood, AHA executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We are excited to continue to partner with the CDC and AHA members to listen to patients and answer their questions about vaccines, so we can defeat this virus for good.”
