AHA backs Senate bill to enlist health care students for vaccination efforts
The AHA today sent a letter of support for the Student Assisted Vaccination Effort (SAVE) Act (S. 2114 ), a Senate bill that would expand the types of providers covered by the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act to include health care students assisting with administering COVID-19 vaccines. The bill also would offer them appropriate legal protections for the deployment of countermeasures during public health emergencies. “The AHA supports allowing additional provider groups to deliver vaccines – as long as they are appropriately trained, and as necessary, have appropriate supervision when administering the vaccine,” the organization wrote.
