Novavax monovalent COVID-19 booster authorized for adults
The Food and Drug Administration yesterday authorized, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended, the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine as a first booster dose for adults who would not otherwise receive one. Unlike the bivalent mRNA boosters made by Pfizer and Moderna, the Novavax booster has not been updated to protect against more recent SARS-CoV-2 variants but provides an alternative for adults who cannot or prefer not to receive an mRNA booster.
