Government shutdown ends as President Trump signs funding bill into law  

The 43-day government shutdown ended last night when President Trump signed a funding bill into law, hours after the House passed the measure by a 222-209 vote. The legislation funds three full-year spending bills to support the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration; the legislative branch; and Department of Defense construction projects and the Department of Veterans Affairs. A short-term continuing resolution will fund the rest of the federal government until Jan. 30. Key health care waivers and flexibilities have been extended retroactively until Jan. 30.
