Go to your local hospital, and you’ll see the women and men who work there filled with compassion for those under their care. You’ll see them brighten the day of someone in need with the smallest gesture. And you’ll see them strive to give their patients just a little bit more—a little more health and wellness to enrich their lives, or a little more time with loved ones and family. In other words, the women and men of America’s hospitals embody the spirit of the holiday season. And this is true not just for a few days out of the year, but 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. You sacrifice your own holidays so that others can enjoy theirs, knowing that you are there. That’s why we at the AHA are proud to represent our nation’s hospitals, health systems, and other providers of care, and the people who make them run. Ours is not any field of work—it’s one with a higher calling, and the people we are fortunate to work with have a higher purpose. Day in and day out, you seek to provide the essential care that your communities have come to expect and deserve. We at the AHA want to wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season. We’re grateful for all that you do. And we’re excited to get to work on your behalf in the new year ahead.

Thank you, and happy holidays.
