Andy Bindman, M.D. – professor of medicine, epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco – has joined Health Services Research journal as co-editor-in-chief, AHA’s Health Research & Educational Trust affiliate announced today. Bindman previously led the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and served as chief of the division of general internal medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He also is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. HSR, HRET’s flagship publication and an official journal of AcademyHealth, also announced four new senior associate editors: Austin Frakt, director of the Partnered Evidence-Based Policy Resource Center at the Boston VA Healthcare System; Shoshanna Sofaer, director of strategic research planning for health policy research at the American Institutes for Research; Benjamin Sommers, M.D., associate professor of health policy and economics at Harvard University; and Rachel Werner, M.D., professor of medicine in the division of general internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics.
