Brief examines how hospitals are investing in affordable housing

A new AHA issue brief describes how hospitals are investing in affordable housing, based on initial findings from the Accelerating Investments for Healthy Communities initiative. AHA and NORC at the University of Chicago are serving as evaluation partners for the initiative, launched by the Center for Community Investment to increase health system investments in upstream determinants of health, with an emphasis on affordable housing. The partners, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will learn from participating hospitals what it takes for health care organizations to do this work.
