AMA announces new president-elect
The American Medical Association Saturday named as its president-elect Susan Bailey, M.D., an allergist and immunologist from Fort Worth, Texas. The third consecutive woman to hold the office, Bailey will become president for a yearlong term beginning in June 2020. She has previously served as vice-speaker and speaker of the AMA House of Delegates, the association’s primary policymaking body. “Challenging times remain for the health care system and as AMA president-elect, I pledge to serve as a strong voice and dedicated advocate for patients and physicians on the pressing health care issues confronting our nation,” Bailey said.
