State Medicaid agencies can apply for grants to expand SUD treatment
State Medicaid agencies can apply through Aug. 9 for planning grants to expand provider capacity to deliver substance use disorder treatment and recovery services, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced yesterday. Section 1003 of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act of 2018 authorizes CMS to conduct a demonstration project to increase capacity for providers who treat SUD. CMS expects to award 10 states up to $5 million each for the planning phase. After the 18-month planning phase, up to five states will be selected to carry out a 36-month demonstration, CMS said.
