The AHA hosted a number of hospital and health system leaders today for the inaugural meeting of The Changing Workforce Task Force. Catherine Jacobson, president and CEO of Froedtert Health in Milwaukee, chairs the task force. The Task Force is charged with providing strategic thought leadership on future changes in the health care workforce and will meet over the next year to analyze existing research, develop public policy proposals, identify leading field practices and produce education materials and resources. Joy Lewis, AHA vice president of strategic policy, opened today’s meeting with an update on the current state of the health care workforce. Members discussed the shifting workforce landscape and ways in which hospitals and health systems might prepare for future health workforce demands so that they can continue to deliver high-quality, affordable health care.
