The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health today held a hearing to examine the status of mental health initiatives under the 21st Century Cures Act of 2016. Elinore McCance-Katz, M.D., assistant secretary for mental health and substance use at the Department of Health and Human Services, updated the committee on activities at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The law created her position to replace and expand the role of the SAMSHA administrator and prioritize behavioral health within HHS.
