Hospitals add 9,700 jobs in January
Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.19% in January to a seasonally adjusted 5,252,800 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 9,700 more people than in December and 88,500 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 5,247,800 people in January – 8,000 fewer than in December but 89,800 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate rose by 0.1 percentage point in January to 3.6%.
