CMS grants first state disaster amendment to CHIP requirements
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services this week approved the first COVID-19-related Children’s Health Insurance Program disaster amendment, which allows Maine to temporarily adjust cost-sharing requirements, application and redetermination policies, verification requirements and the tribal consultation process during the COVID-19 emergency. In addition to the Maine CHIP amendment, CMS to date has approved 49 Section 1135 waivers, 26 Medicaid state plan amendments and seven Medicaid disaster amendments for the COVID-19 emergency.
