The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has named Mary Mayhew as the agency’s deputy administrator and director of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Mayhew’s first day in this position was yesterday. Mayhew had served as Maine’s Health and Human Services commissioner for six years before stepping down in 2017. She succeeds Brian Neale, who had been the director of Medicaid and CHIP until he resigned in February. Tim Hill had been serving as acting director since then.
