CMS updates Medicare data on minority COVID-19 hospitalizations
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today released an updated snapshot of the impact of COVID-19 on the Medicare population, which includes COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations through June 20 and the first data for American Indian/Alaskan Native Medicare beneficiaries.
According to CMS, American Indian/Alaskan Native beneficiaries have the second highest COVID-19 hospitalization rate among racial/ethnic groups after Blacks. Among other findings, Medicare beneficiaries dually eligible for Medicaid had a hospitalization rate five times higher than those who were not.
