CDC: Drug overdose deaths up 29.4% in 2020
Drug overdose deaths in the United States rose 29.4% in 2020 to an estimated 93,331, including 69,710 involving opioids, according to preliminary data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s up from a 5% increase in 2019. The data shows changes in overdose deaths by drug category and state.
