AHA to Congress: Don’t use PRF funds for infrastructure, providers need them now

The AHA today told Senate leaders it strongly opposes proposals to rescind emergency funds from the Provider Relief Fund to offset the costs of an infrastructure proposal. 

“The PRF has been a lifeline to hospitals, health systems and other health care providers to cope with the costs of providing care to patients and communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” AHA wrote. “Diverting these funds in order to offset the costs of an infrastructure proposal while the pandemic continues and needs persist is inappropriate.”

Noting that COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to surge in hotspots across the country, AHA urged the Senate leaders to encourage the administration to immediately release the funds for their intended purpose.
