Million Hearts, a national initiative co-led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, recently named the Missouri Hospital Association a 2021 Hypertension Control Exemplar for its outstanding efforts to prioritize hypertension control during the COVID-19 pandemic. With funding from the Missouri Foundation for Health, MHA delivered almost 3,000 home blood pressure monitoring kits to pregnant and postpartum patients at member hospitals who had low resources and high risk for complications. The Preeclampsia Foundation kits included a validated home blood pressure monitor, patient and family education materials, and links to additional resources online.
