The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services yesterday released for comment its advance notice of methodological changes to Medicare Advantage capitation rates and Part C and Part D payment policies for calendar year 2023. The notice also includes a discussion of CY 2023 adjustments to the benefit parameters for the Medicare Part D defined standard benefit. CMS will accept comments on the notice for 30 days, and plans to announce the final MA capitation rates and payment policies by April 4. The agency especially seeks comments on potential changes to the MA and Part D Star Ratings to account for how well each plan advances health equity and screens for common health-related social needs, such as food insecurity, housing insecurity and transportation.
