Study: Risk of acquiring COVID-19 during hospital stay low
The chance of acquiring COVID-19 during a hospital stay is low, according to a study reported today by Epic Research. Based on data from 156 hospitals and clinics using the Epic electronic health record system, the study looked at patients between April 2020 and October 2021 who tested negative on or after admission and then positive at least six days later.
“Our data show that rates of acquiring COVID-19 during a hospital stay are low, with only about 1.8% of patients, equating to 172 patients at the highest peak in December 2020,” the researchers said.
