Moderna yesterday asked the Food and Drug Administration to authorize a second booster dose of its COVID-19 vaccine for adults age 18 and older who received an initial booster of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine, citing published data from the United States and Israel after the omicron variant emerged. The company said the request includes all adults to give the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and health care providers flexibility to determine the appropriate use for an additional booster, including for those at higher risk due to age or health conditions.
