HHS issues proposed rule for conscience and religious nondiscrimination
The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights yesterday announced a proposed rule with changes to the process for handling conscience complaints, while adding safeguards to protect against conscience and religious discrimination. The proposed rule’s intent is to strengthen protections for people with religious or moral objections while ensuring access to care for all in keeping with the law, according to HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. Comments will be accepted no later than Feb. 27.
