SAMHSA seeks comments on harm reduction framework for people who use drugs

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration seeks comments through 5 p.m. Aug. 14 on its draft framework to integrate harm reduction strategies across its initiatives and partnerships for people who use drugs. According to the agency, harm reduction is an evidence-based approach that emphasizes engaging directly with people who use drugs to prevent overdose and infectious disease transmission; improve physical, mental and social well-being; and offer low barrier options for accessing health care services, including substance use and mental health disorder treatment.
