CDC, states prepare to prevent additional cases of bird flu in humans
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state and territorial public health officials Friday met to discuss preparedness planning for bird flu after one person recently tested positive after exposure to infected dairy cattle in Texas. The patient reported eye redness as their only symptom and was treated with a flu antiviral drug. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently confirmed the same virus clade in a Michigan dairy herd that received cows from Texas. Officials continue to analyze samples, but do not believe the clade is resistant to existing flu antiviral medications.
