Monarez out as CDC director, Jim O’Neill named acting director

CDC Update

The Department of Health and Human Services announced Aug. 27 in a post on X that Susan Monarez was no longer director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She was confirmed to the position by the Senate on July 29. The CDC named Jim O’Neill as acting director Aug. 29.
