Description

AHA Leadership Scan: A Series of Virtual Panel Discussions

Advancing Hospital Safety and Team Resilience
Human-Centered Approaches to Workplace Violence

Thursday, December 4, 2025
1 - 2 p.m. Eastern; noon - 1 p.m. Central; 10 - 11 a.m. Pacific

Workplace violence in health care is an urgent challenge—compromising safety, impacting morale, and contributing to burnout. Policies and procedures are important, but they are not enough. Health systems are increasingly turning to human-centered, trauma-informed approaches that go beyond compliance to create a more secure, supportive environment for patients and staff alike.

In this Leadership Scan, hospital executives will share practical, solution-driven strategies their organizations are using to reduce violence, strengthen resilience, and foster a culture of healing. Panelists will showcase how they are:

  • Implementing trauma-informed care models that acknowledge the impact of trauma on patients, staff, and systems.
  • Engaging team members in trauma-informed practices that improve readiness, morale, and compassion.
  • Designing multi-disciplinary training to anticipate and manage violent incidents more effectively across departments.

Attendees will gain actionable insights on how to embed trauma-informed practices into safety programs, align leadership with frontline needs, and advance organizational cultures where both patients and caregivers can thrive.

Attendees Will Learn:

  • Learn innovative strategies for implementing trauma-informed care in the health care environment.
  • Explore practical strategies for engaging team members in trauma-informed practices that prevent and de-escalate violence.
  • Consider the benefits of multi-disciplinary training that applies trauma-informed practices to anticipate and manage violent incidents.
