The Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, the Treasury, and the Office of Personnel Management released guidance Oct. 29 for independent dispute resolution entities on batched and bundled items or services, reflecting changes finalized in the No Surprises Act IDR operations rule in May on how qualified IDR items and services can be batched. The guidance explains how the finalized batching requirements will be used and specifies the permissible current procedural terminology code ranges for anesthesiology, radiology, pathology and laboratory items and services considered to relate to the treatment of a similar condition. It also explains the definition of a bundled payment arrangement and provides examples to guide how disputing parties and certified IDR entities should apply the finalized batching and bundled payment provisions.
