HoyerCongress needs to help “providers, families and patients cope with the growing epidemic of opioid addiction,” House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said today at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C. Hoyer discussed a number of “innovative solutions” proposed by Congress to tackle the problem. In addition, Hoyer said that Congress needs to provide funding to combat the Zika virus and make changes to improve the Affordable Care Act. “I’m hopeful that in the years ahead that we will work together and have an opportunity to make the changes that are necessary,” Hoyer said, noting that the ACA has helped 20 million Americans gain health insurance coverage since 2013.
